Converting a Chapel into a Modern Apartment
Take a look at the pictures below. It’s pretty sad that a sacred and holy place can be allowed to be transformed into what is depicted in the second photograph.

It is sad regarding the loss of houses of worship. I guess the only consolation is that the structure shown above was at least kept from demolition. The fault may lie with local municipalities - who should understand the need to maintain the use of such buildings as meeting places for the people.
Comment by Garrett McCarthy — April 11, 2008 @ 5:28 amSpringfield, Mass. just witnessed a glorious older church allowed to be left derelict until a buyer purchased the property to become a retail spot ( useless venture in a town where even shops surrounding the city hall area barely hang on). No careful re-use plan, no saving the sanctuary…St. Joseph’s Church was a landmark. It’s modern replacement will no doubt be an ugly stump of retail mix shops.
Very sad.
